Held Hostage

Posted by on Feb 7, 2009 in Recovery

A vice grip, bites down, and rips and tears, and tosses you around.
As you yell and scream and cry in waves of pain.  Out of control you
try and stay awake, as the voltage rides up your left plain splitting you
in half.  An invisible hand holds a cattle prod and zaps your left side starting
at your foot.  Moving to your arm, chest, then face.  As it rides through your space.

Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.
Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.  Over and over and over.

Your muscles fire thousands of times as time stands still as you try to chill.
Flopping around like a fish out of water you try to breathe between electrical arches.  As the pain transfers
up your body you realize it is coming closer to the end as you begin to imagine it
beginning again.  Finally your face is clinching as it quickly ends as fast as it began.
As you begin to think how you can’t imagine it ever happening again.  Held hostage.

The longest three minutes of my life.

This is as close as I can come to describing what my simple partial seizures felt like Monday morning. Needless to say to me there was nothing simple or partial about them. If anyone else has experienced them I’d love to hear your recollection of the experience.

My horrible ER visit didn’t add too much joy to my life and possibly I can get another bad poem out of that too.
