The Trial of Akbar Lightning and Globatron! – The People Debate.

Posted by on Apr 7, 2009 in Akbar Lightning, Globatron, Laws

Here you go people.  Have at us.  This is your chance to argue for our destruction, to make a case against us.

We will not directly comment in this thread, that is a promise.  We will only delete personal attacks on one another that seem aggressive and not part of a discussion.

Of course, we are open to the idea that there might be a few people out there who would like to argue for some of the actions we’ve taken.  but we won’t hold our breath.

    Byron,
I posted earlier but in the wrong place.. and now I can’t remember exactly what I posted.. But I do know that I have some “feelings” about the changes in the world and how these volatile times could change the way we approach and think about art… I spent years posting on a yahoo generated site with artists and “others” discussing art and trying to figure out where it was all going. There was much speculation and lots of wining but mostly sillyness. It was fun. But now… I am compelled to begin studying the artists during the great depression and the world wars. I “feel” that all this dialogue will become secondary and mundane compaired to whats around the corner. I think we spent years in stasis and the the world stage is ready for our appearance for now (at last) we have a true purpose. What that is… not sure and again.. these are just feelings.
thank you for all that you do.

    so sorry…
I was supposed to make a case for or against globatron-
I used to write “art reviews” for several mags and rags and found very quickly that nothing negative could be written. And through these mediums no art critism could exist for publications are reliant on advertising dollars and cannot offend potential clients. Constance Stumin (writer from way back) used to get around this be using key words like “interesting”. If ever a work of art was noted as “interesting” by her, be assured that she did not like it. Others in the art community at the time used the same key word… so, it was like a secret joke. This subversive quality in journalism is not surprising I’m sure.. so .. my point is that Globatron brings honesty to the table.. quite important and unique.
    Hope you keep it going.

“for several mags and rags and found very quickly that nothing negative could be written.”

That sounds like here. Though they call it “attacks” or personal threats or observation of the clueless. But guess what?

I expect this too, to be censored, because well they can; they have the power to question power, just not the responsibility to wield it and thus have none.

“The only issue is from what I hear a lot of professors read globatron from UNF, and they should already be aware the letter is coming. Also, I’ve sent emails to the entire art department of UNF before inviting them to becoming a part of what we were doing and did not get one response.

So again, I’m not going to be shocked if there is no response. I deeply believe we won’t get any answers to this letter until we start going further up the food chain. State schools only have so many resources, they are all scared to keep their positions and you will find it rare for even tenured professors to take a position I would think. Especially on a blog since most of them that I know that are tenured are not hip to the computer.

This letter might be best served via snail mail honestly. If they could touch it and hold the letter in their hands then maybe they’d realize the questions were as real as the paper they are printed on. ”

Those idiot tenured faculty just don’t have the hipster clue do they. Don’t know how to use a computer or work the Web-o-Sphere. Good grief. And folk are supposed to pay them for a learnin? If only we had the power, after all we do have the intellect part down pat. I mean we know how to ask a questions serially; seriously. Why won’t they respond? Must be scared to face reality; the truth, huh? Oh, well back to the abacus.

I know this is breaking the rules of the post but it seems by the time this post was put up, all the trollers and flamers IP addresses had been filtered for these very types of comments. I felt sorry that we didn’t get more input on our trial. But we were already judged. These comments are the proof of that:

What 3rd option were you missing? Is the fault of not having it that of the U you chose to go to, or of the HS counselor, your parents, friends, preist or barista?

You claim as you “edge,” intellect and a thirst for knowledge, yet you went to U with out having done any homework. No one forced you. No license is required to learn or to paint. What is required is dedication and willingness to work, to set goals and at least try to achieve them, to solve problems. There’s a reason most departments have very high enrollment in graphic design. Did your counselor or an admissions person try to steer you towards GD or Arte Ed or business; if they had would your “edge” have allowed you to go along with it? Had you only seen the success of Tommy Kinkade and thought, “that’s for me”?

You should take By’s suggestion and write that book about how you used your ability to dissent against the system ….. and have your wife bail you out. Remember it’s still their fault.

Have at it ye courageous protectors of free speech.

While the apology didn’t exactly read like the final word on this matter, why did you post it if all you intend to do is go on and on forever about this disaster. The TRUTH is that this an incredible waste of time. Set your self the challenge of blogging about something new and different, leaving out all jerk off references to this chapter, and perhaps the few people you haven’t scared off with your behavior will join in and also move on. Have you painted or drawn anything lately? Lets all talk about some nice pictures.

There’s nothing wrong with talking about art, but what’s obvious to everyone but you, is that being a total dick, will leave you unemployed, isolated, and paranoid.

Seems to me that chastising some one for removing content they added, that they created as being cowardice and then removing comments that you do not like or agree with is, in your own words, cowardice – with an exclamation point. Criticism you do not like or respect is labeled as reactive threat and dismissed out of hand. Thought that strays from your path, thrashed as unknowing, fearfully deferring to some higher power. Profound reactions indeed to a mere “art project.”

Is dog universally translatable to cat; if not why would a Dog talk to a Cat in Doggish and expect a reply? What does the lack of reply infer about the cat; stupidity, fear, sloth, apprehension, loathing, more work in an already crowded schedule. What do baseless or self justifying assumptions by Dog infer about Dog?

Ward & June leave it to you, too.

“It’s sad that it has come to this but it seems the letter was proved correct.”

That’s not what is sad or what was “proved.”

“We have gotten threatening emails saying that we are cyber-stalking them and that they would prosecute us, etc. Obviously all empty threats as the project is merely an email art project asking some very profound questions. Questions any art professor would seem to be overjoyed to answer.”

I suspect the facebook pages could just be another art project, huh? Clueless to the end. Puntland pirates deserve more respect. There is much more to asking a question that you think it is “profound.” I think the pile of feces I made this morning is a profound statement of the state of our economy and do fully expect it to be exhibited at all the Financial District galleries I send it to. I hope they are not afraid of the truth.

    Yours Dutifully, Pompeux

Backing off of the revolution in art projects in unacceptable.

Maybe torbjorn can explain why the art that he collects is from a source that doesnt reflect courage.

Henry Kissinger and Richard Nixon, June 10, 1973

HK: Mr. President, there is no lack of confidence in you whatsoever. The trouble is that some of these Democratic senators … The problem is these bastard traitors we have in this country.

RN: Don’t let this harping discourage you, Henry, you know. You hear from all of these people, and don’t let it discourage you.

HK: Mr. President, you and I have been through a lot of things together. It’s always the same things, and these bastards are now trying to deprive you of any success. This has nothing to do—

RN: The real problem is this: they’re trying to fight over all the things we beat them on. We beat them on China, we beat them on Russia, we beat [them] on the war …

HK: It has not a thing to do with Watergate. Watergate just enables them to do those things they would have done anyway …

RN: These people—it is traitorous, isn’t it? You’ve said that often before in that Oval Office, Henry.

HK: And it was true …

RN: But we’ve survived before and we can do it again … Let’s face it. If they come in—well, that’s a little while off. Let’s suppose we—well, I’m not considering resignation, but taking their argument at its best—Nixon and Agnew should resign and the Congress should name a president. It’s unbelievable.

HK: Mr. President, a resignation will be a national catastrophe.

RN: It’s never going to come …

She feels that what her friend Bill is doing is not her fault.

Kathy is also a cancer survivor, like yourself.
I hope that you can understand.

I can’t wait. I hope this results in GOOD art, not the fake intellectual dreck that so called wannabe artsy fartsy types who are jealous of true contemporary master works produce. Once we show the world the men behind the curtain then we can start rebuilding a language of truth and good art, and that art will be understood by everyone as good, and enlightening.

We need a shared set of values and I think that everyone should listen to this podcast about the dangers of relativism by William Gairdner. Byron and Akbar good job!

Relativism is evil. We need more deep thinkers like Gairdner. Not this wishy washy crap. He knows what is true and right! Like Gays are wrong and abortion is wrong and capital punishment is right!

It is all there on his website at WilliamGairdner.com.

This man is my hero. Globatron and Gairdner are fighting the good fight!

Byron or Akbar, Please take this papa mulder off the comments.
    He is fool.
Its this crazy crap that always messes up the tread.
    Please!
Btw Byron, Bill said the meeting went well.
    There was 14 people there.
They all agree that something must be done about our problem.
Bill said they do want to make some changes to the letter but they wanted to talk to you first.
One thing they decided to do was find where Mark works and pay him a little visit as a group on behalf of Globatron.
Bill said if mark caused any problems to our group that Bill could have it taken care of.
Also Bill begged me to ask you come to the next meeting, and that could you would wear the mask.
He is so crazy about you!
    I wished Akbar lived here.
Bill thinks I have a crush on Akbar.
    Not true.

    Thank God for Byron King!
I blame eduction for all of Americas problems.
If you educate the wrong people you always have these problems.
America allows anyone to go to collage.
    Thats just crazy!!!!
If you are smart already why should you be allowed to go to a universty.
    People are getting too smart.
I believe contemporary art is ungodly.
If we continue on this path we will destory our America,
First off we must begin to allow churches to teach our children.
Globatron will expose these so called artists and teachers.
Then we can cut them off from their money.
    No money, no art.
