I Did Try
changing realities bought.
knowing the food you input.
knowing the garbage you output.
no food from a can.
no meat eaten.
small choices we make.
big voices we take.
the world is begging.
not to be forgotten.
what we do right now.
the seeds forever found.
our children will learn.
what their parents did burn.
what legacy was left.
for them to accept.
a no impact man.
a no impact plan.
to realize what we know.
to practice daily and show.
that one person can partake.
on the change we all can make.
one choice at a time.
we can still reach for the sublime.
if only to look in their eyes.
and say, “honestly, I did try.”

August 10, 2010I signed up for the No Impact Man one week project. It starts April 29th. I emailed Colin Beavan this poem and he’s off the grid this week. His assistant responded very kindly and told me he would get the poem and would appreciate it.
