I ask myself, what big thing am I going to do?
How am I going to change the world?
What stories am I going to leave behind
To let the world know I might speak for the divine?
But, I can’t think of anything more to say.
I can’t think of any witty satire to play.
I am not angry anymore
Because I do not seek glory or fame.
I am only going to be here.
Do nothing grand to change it all.
Tell no tall tales to weave into a legacy.
For I speak for no one but me.
And I am going to vacuum the house.
I am going to take out the trash.
I am going to do the dishes and clean.
Do the kitty litter like a machine.
I will take up no cross.
I will take up no new boss.
I will be a father while I can be.
I will bike my girls to school and envy … no one
Making sure they are safe.
Making sure you are well.
That you have a spare back and hands
To make the best of what we can.
