The bizarre and beautiful Let’s Paint TV

28 January 2008 2 Comments

Okay so I have been holding out on everyone here. Have you ever had a passion for something and you want to keep it all to yourself? Like if others know about it, it lessens the experience somehow? Well, I have had just such a secret passion – a little gem called Let’s Paint TV.

I love cable access TV! It has a quality Youtube will never have because of the way cable access often tries to adhere to the conventions of broadcast media, yet in a lame, DIY kinda way. But, God bless Youtube for its hefty archive of dozens of shows. I have spent many an hour trolling thru enjoying so much quirkiness. One of my favorites is Stairway to Stardom.

When I was in LA last March I heard about a show called Let’s Paint. I didnt have access to a TV while I was there so I couldn’t check it out. But I recently found a Youtube channel with tons of clips. I have wasted countless hours watching a guy run on a treadmill while painting naked fat guys, tin men, and quirky bands, and simultaneously mixing drinks, frying pickles, or performing heart surgery. All the while taking calls by local yokels (many of whom use the opportunity to say idiotic things). Its high octane entertainment folks!

Anyway, I hope nobody thinks less of me for this obsession. If you need wacky strangeness from time to time, please join me, bookmark the page and enjoy. Its really a thing of beauty.
