Kultureclashy
There are moments of life’s surreality that go beyond any abilty to comprehend ( at least to my limited sense).
Thanks to the thoughts of the good thunkers, tonight I ponder notions abstractly related to the continuation of the species homo sapien. Are we just animals? Is there a higher humane-ness that can be expressed and experienced on a much broader level than the embodiment of one presidential candidate (Obama) AND the single acceptance speech of another (McCain)?
Can we reach a level of humanity expressed more in what we do in our daily lives, one that pervades the very essence of and actions (not just words) of our civic institutions?
What I see in the above video is more than a clash of cultures, but a clash of CULTURES as in the ooze that is the result of these two men spitting in a petridish, their very DNA resulting from divergent evolutions of the original copy.
Obama = star child
O’reilly= scarred child

What gets me is that we can’t even be bipartisan among our own people. Among other artists and creatives. I wonder how we can at all be bipartisan in our approach to such dividing issues such as abortion.
I find some similarities in the division in the local Jacksonville art scene as in the division between Republicans and Democrats.
on one side you have a group that seems to want to talk about the issues and on the other side you have a group who seems to be happy with having some sort of group identity.
Not that either side is right or wrong in the above analogy, but it does seem to parallel the current political situation.
To reference Rodney King once again,

People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?
