Seems the wells dried up as no one else wanted to participate in it. I emailed a ton of people to see if they were interested. There was little interest in it generally it seems as the comments were very few. Thanks for asking though. I thought it was one of the best series yet. Thanks for everyone who participated.
i agree byron, i think the Jax Art History segment was a great idea.
i personally know several artists who’ve been in the art scene for a long while and they
love to talk, so if you’re interested, i’ll make the connections for you
That would be great Yvonne. I could coach you on how I was doing them once you get the time. I upload the audio file to http://www.archive.org. After that you’d just send me the link or I could make you a contributor for the posts.
I think it’d be a great series to continue also. I was trying to identify patterns for why the arts seem to get derailed so often in Jax.
I have theories but couldn’t see any definite patterns. More investigation is needed for sure.
I did see Jax D.O.T. mysteriously buying art buildings/properties as soon as they were really getting successful for road expansions a couple of times though. I thought that was odd.
For instance they really needed to expand the road in front of the YMCA in Riverside and in the process they needed the Brooklyn Arts Center property. Years later that property is a retention pond or something still. Now in retrospect it seems the city could have adjusted their plans instead of taking down that property.

thank you. i really appreciate it. I thought more folks would be interested in this series but it’s gotten little response
Thanks Yvonne for sitting with me and sharing your story.
If anyone else is interested in doing one of these let’s set up a time during the weekend. I’d be happy to continue the series.
Love the interview, especially the rain/water sound effect. Thanks for the help in getting the word out about Jacksonville Arts.
Are you going to continue this series? Or are the wells dried up on this one?

That’s good news. I like to listen to these when my hands are busy but my ears and mind aren’t. You know how it goes.
Thanks guys, but personally I don’t have time for it. I can’t drive for a few months which doesn’t help things too much.
If I could drive I’d be down with doing one a week. It’d be great if someone else was interested in helping with this series in the meantime.
i might be able to help in the near future, i’ll keep you posted. i would love to see this series come back -y
