Interview with local artist Overstreet Ducasse at the Burrito Gallery. Overstreet has some of the most symbolic and loaded work I have seen. His show will be up two more weeks so if you get a chance swing by and check it out.

    really nice! this is a show to see! some very thoughtful work by mr ducasse! I really loved that breakdown of Allah (arm,leg,leg,arm,head)

    Really wish folks with the power to do so would allow more thought provoking and engaging work like Overstreet’s to show.

    its your job to provoke thoughts not the gallery.

    if an artist isnt getting into galleries then they should create them. so you create galleries, like this site, and jcspace et al. but they don’t have to be as fancy like this site or as long term as the burrito. i’m seeing galleries all over. i am the type that thinks more galleries equals higher bar and less about the provocativeness and everyones take on the show. about the only thing i am against right now is graf in and on contributing buildings or something hurtful. other than that i’m for all duval art.

    good artists are like teeth. ignore them and they’ll go away.

    This kid puts 100% into his work. It’s so visually loaded that he can talk about one painting for hours. Glad to see him get the attention he deserves.

    FOR CERTAIN PEOPLE,
    OVERSTREET IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST ARTISTS IN THIS LAME CITY. I SEE BIG THINGS IN HIS FUTURE AND WOULD LOVE TO GET A PIECE FOR MY COLLECTION THOUGH I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THE FUCK IT WOULD GO? KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND E-MAIL ME WHEN YA’ GET THIS.
