Generation Uncertain

i can try to see what
gives you life, Art
but i know that i don’t understand

the unsaid
the most powerful thing in the world
the hurt of hint,
takes a little

buried in a sequence
riddled with familiar
disturbed and plenty
beneath knowing

given with polite instruction
loud entertainment
repetitive gestures
ritual

thought chain
curls. beyond thin palates
inside the braincase

Somehow
it is important to me
that you are who you say

you are not software
and hardware
ghost and machine
a lovely haunted mansion

surely not

the Chain of Being
being the best recourse to reality
the idea that you

are a medium
transcendental
gives me away

I have been too literal
tried to say the ineffable
in good clean terms.
as if I knew you, Art.

beneath uncertainty,
where I expect no one to look
i seek when i live inside a dream
and then awake

knowing I have been somewhere
that words and powerpoints

defile. a starkness that cannot be let out
by leeches, psychotherapy or other exercises
of the mouth, hand, brush, microphone, laser surgery, rifles

there is bombing
the noble excess of murder
letting blood as though it would lead us

to the soul. something that cannot be said
but which can through technique
be shown its absolute opposite

there, you see.
there is where you have come.
there you have gone and died.

there you have set fire to the house
there you see a first
a good place to start

what is it, this obsession,
origins you can’t see
but seek with great sacrifice

the invisible past
i imagine exists
but which i can just as well forget

a new beginning. a pathway from the past and the future to behold. a conversation with art is a conversation with one’s soul. beautiful and hard to look at. a monster and a kitten.

I hope you run from that burning house and build a castle. I hope you invite me to the open house and we can tell stories of what our lives have given us and taken away.

WOW! i finally had the kind of quiet solitude required for this work…it is old school rich…well done, bravo! i don’t want to besmirch it by argumentation or attaching myself to any of the opinions, as they are the surface of the oceanic thrust of this piece.
