No Room for Maybe

1.

There should be no remorse
No regret when
An act is taken
Make it quick
Precise
Exact
With surgical precision
There should be
No introspection
No looking back

In our reflection
There should be no sin
For we have just descended
From trees

Like our cousins
We kill our own
This act shapes us
Makes us, who we are
Make it error free
Report it as a chemical factory
A school bombed in debris

Opposable thumbs for tools
Our brains not capable
Of knowing our collective cause
Why were we created
Why do we hunger for knowledge
A drone Predator target locked
Payload delivered and dropped

After action briefing
Another bad guy down
High fives all around
Shift change
Beers drank
Leave no time to think

2.

I sit in a tree
And look down
At nothing for miles

I now call this home
Predators still hunt
Mostly insects and bacteria

Are what I fear
This, my home
Withstood the blast

A shelter from sun and rain
A few towels found
A tarp and a sheet

Garbage blown into a heap
The mosquito is still the worst
I know I will die of thirst

There is no being saved
THIS WORD is all I have
Nothing to write with

I whisper these words out loud
Hoping they will be bound
To any frequency

Found on any channel
Of consciousness
Projected into being

3.

THIS WORD
an extension
of all words ever
all thought ever
drawn on sand
etched on walls
written on scrolls
burned and hunted
hidden in caves
for thousands of years
to be found again
studied
stored
hoped for
decoded
restored
developed into
philosophy
science
all communication
broken down to
a yes or
a no
no room for maybe
our thoughts flow
through space
inner and outer
this word grows
bundled and shot
upconverted
downconverted
ping-ponged
from antennae
to screen
to be read again
and again
to be shared
to be deleted
being to being
this word
connects all
as its lifespan
grows and dies
a fruit fly
continental drift
as space-time shifts
words find their way
to be read
to be spoken
reborn
broken
