Just Right
Out here between the blue and the red
One planet full of water
The other dead
We aim to step foot on you
Set up a colony on you
So that we might survive
So that our collective consciousness
Might have a second life
To evolve past our human strife
Our data backed up safely
Off one rock we place thee
So that you might one day tell our story
The desert planet full of dunes
In the future will be terraformed
Our only chance to not be ruined
From overpopulation
From global warming
From nuclear annihilation
This miracle of life we have been given
So that we might travel space
As if re-mapping the Earth’s face
Red planet, we aim to step foot on you
Make a new home on you
So that we can continue on
You will be our springboard
Preparing for the goldilocks zones
Not too hot, not too cold, but just right
We prepare for our eternal flight
