there is a question of context involved in how one relates to the ‘art world.’

one may approach one’s work within the context of the tradition, or one may approach one’s work within the larger context of the human condition.

the first is, in some way, equivalent to an engagement with a type of virtual world, a modeled arena wherein one’s arguments are tentative.  the latter obliterates the tradition and is questionable as a result.

but this binary relationship between the art world, and the artist in the world, this tension is a constant source of suffering and/or contemplation and/or accommodation for/by the artist.

I would say it’s a constant state of suffering. If I could take a pill and wake up tomorrow and not be an artist I would do so in a second.

Does anyone else feel that being an artist is a curse?

Or do you feel it is a blessing?

well, you cant! they dont make that type of pill. you might get some medication that is anti-art that you would take daily or hourly, but, i know you byron, you would stop taking it. ha, ha !
so accept the fact that you are an artist, that you give us trophy soldiers, polar bear icons, and globatron!
and thats a good thing that is a blessing! you and your talent is one in a millon!

Gosh. Thanks Jerry. I’m blushing. I appreciate it. Sure feels like a curse half the time. Wish I could just turn it off and on and I’d be fine. Like turn it off when you want to be normal and watch the football game like everyone else, instead of looking at the football game and how it’s an amazing illustration of how our country puts more value on sports vs. education, etc.

Would be nice to be able to watch the game.
